Session 8

Wow what a week! Monday I completed the LA Marathon in 7:19:57. My feet had blisters that finally popped on Friday. It has been a long tiring week.

This week I listened to Barbara's podcast. I was really interested to see her information on the website but the link didn't work. I found the path she took to be very interesting. The idea of Assistive Technology was a great idea because it is something that many SPec. Ed teachers and students need to use. It was surprising to hear that there was no training in the Spec. Ed. program on the different softwares and hardwares that are available. I spent some time looking at the different assistive technologies that were available such as the voice software and screen reading software. I didn't really know how the sticky keys worked. I just knew one of my students turned it on and I had to turn it off. The statistic about 20$ of Americans report disabilities was a shock.

I have been spending a lot of time figuring out how to create my prototype. I am creating webpages for now because I still haven't found a software for the virtual reality. I am looking at Opensim but need a server. We'll see. I have been working on the webpages and forms for the students to save the information from the online tests. I also have been looking at what standards the different assignments meet. I am pretty excited about it all.
